Embroidery is one of the best ways to make eyes for your dolls. But at the same time, it is also one of the most difficult parts, so, it is important that the embroidery looks neat, and the eyes are beautiful and symmetrical.
You can embroider the eyes in different ways, I suggest you get to know one of them in this video.
I use a cotton thread (mouline) and a thin needle; I won’t be able to pick up the loops of the crocheted fabric with a thick needle, or the embroidery will look sloppy. A thin needle “enters” into the crocheted stitches smoothly, which greatly facilitates and speeds up the whole process of eye embroidery. Mouline thread can be replaced with sewing thread, but the result may be slightly worse.
It is advisable to make marks before starting embroidery where the eyes will be, so that it is easier to make the second eye symmetrically to the first one. I do this with a simple pencil, then these marks are hidden under the thread. You can use a self-disappearing marker for this.
If embroidery is too difficult for you, then watch a video tutorial on how to paint eyes for a doll or how to crochet round eyes for a play doll, as well as how to make 3D eyelashes.
Watch the video where I step by step show the process of embroidering the eyes of a crocheted doll.
